Britt d’Argaville, Ben Davis, Marli Maddison, unknown uncredited untitled, Frances Waite, Betty, Genevieve Fullerton, T.L.Bits, and VDO are guests in A Circle, they have been invited due to connections of form, material, and friendship.
Britt for their 2022 work Chateau Marmont at TCB featuring an entanglement of cords from one wall of the space to the another.
Ben for their stands and support structures of found/stolen origin in their studio, which I thought could help keep the work off the ground.
Marli for the Public Order Response t-shirt, it’s relation to defiance, barriers, the improvised uses of t-shirts, etc.
Unknown, uncredited, untitled for takes on multiple undisclosed and important roles in the exhibition. Frances for their soft and structural moments.
Betty for pop noise trudge.
Genevieve Fullerton for forgetful memories of club classics.
T.L.Bits for a dark industrial noisey brew.
VDO for returnal and reinvention new age wav forms on tape.
An improvised bridge or connector forms across space between ‘me’ and an outside world, it can be uncomfortable, it might not be lasting, but it is a connection of it and me that forms us and us collectively. Perhaps it is anarchy, fun, not work, play, friendship, a dream, really real, nowish forever, a breaking point, community, cringey, parody, fatigue, bricks, freedom, or something else.
